Evening Standard

Trevor Brooking: Premier League stability is vital, but I'd love to see us have a 'real go' at one of the cups .

FMOB

With BFS here - NO FUCKING CHANCE.

And don't witter on to me about last years very embarrassing League Cup SF - that wasn't meant to happen in BFS's eyes and we sure as hell were made to look embarrassing as a result.

* puts tin hat on awaiting the BFS fan backlash

He must have been furious that the players got us so far. If we'd gone on to win, he would never have lived it down. He obviously put his foot down before the semi-final and made sure the players melted, or else!

The only person connected to West Ham who was genuinely gutted we made the semi final of the LC was fat cunt himself.
'It doesn't matter' were his exact words just after I'd spunked out on a hotel and tickets in Manchester. He made damn sure it didn't matter too after the shambolic performances in both legs. The man is vermin

Nice swipe at the fat cunt's revolting attitude to cup games Sir Trev- echoing the sentiments that we're a cup club and always have been.

Re: Trevor Brooking in the Evening Standard
All the Sam haters don't follow logic they follow their own paranoia. He's got a massive ego yes? and will want to feed that ego but at the same time keep his job? The only way he's going to a sniff at any sort of credibility of being a winner whist at West Ham is to win a domestic cup but firstly he has to assure relative safety in the PL. He needs to be in the top flight so he gets the sort of media coverage he so craves.

Listen to your own logic of how he is and this will tell you he would love a cup run.

Re: Trevor Brooking in the Evening Standard
Sam hates us and only got us to the semi-final so he could hurt us more by getting our hopes up first before injuring our defenders and telling the others not to try to hard in the match. He's cruel and has no interest in making us a success, only in pissing us off and causing us pain.

That's what a bloke down the pub told me, so I'm convinced.

Missed our chance this season in the League Cup...as it seems to be the easiest to progress to the final...

People say Sam should play kids more.

When he does in a reasonable way, 1, 2 or 3 mixed with veterans, he is fielding a weakened team.

Sam made a lot of mistakes last year, his League Cup run wasn't one of them.

Then a few of the big clubs won cups inspite of great managers.

Re: Trevor Brooking in the Evening Standard
The League cup run last season was IN SPITE of Sam not because of him. He fielded a weakened team in each round and we scraped through and then got humiliated when a team finally took their chances

Re: Trevor Brooking in the Evening Standard
Strangely, perhaps to some, Sir Trev rates Sam as a manager, so I am told. He also likes the OS move. He would be popular on here with some of you.

Re: Trevor Brooking in the Evening Standard
Can never understand "lesser teams" not going for the Cups. It can end up in European football and with that comes increased revenue and the possibility of bringing in better players.....

Re: Trevor Brooking in the Evening Standard
HMP's right Sam's ego doesn't want to win a cup where he could get loads of adulation from the media and could tell them how he took the club from the brink, and built a team to mix it with the big boys. The nutter is somehow happy just avoiding relegation!

We still got to the semi finals of one of the cups. That's undeniably a cup run.

To say getting to a semi last season 'wasn't supposed to happen' is beyond ridiculous.
